Pitchperfect marathon movie#
So to celebrate all the Academy Award winners-and hopefully your cinematic race finishes this spring-here’s a playlist comprised of some great songs from movie soundtracks. Heck, sometimes the movie characters are running to the music themselves! Rocky and Chariots of Fire would be nothing without slow motion musical running sequences. But the real reason I’m bringing up-cue snooty voice- cinema is because in honor of the Oscars, April’s running playlist is going to be movie music themed.įrom soundtracks to scores, every year movies are crammed full of great music, much of which makes a perfect companion for a nice long run. Kristen Stewart ran across a field in Spencer, gangs ran from the cops in West Side Story, and the Williams sisters ran all over the tennis court in King Richard. Also, a number of this year’s nominees were (kind of) running related. There are some connections: First, I did do my marathon training long run before the ceremony. You may be wondering “why is this guy talking about movies in a Runner’s World article?” and that is a valid question.

Last Sunday was of course the Academy Awards, and if you're anything like me, you spent the evening at an Oscars party eating Power of the (mini hot) Dogs, making your best guess as to who would win Best Documentary Short, and frantically trying to figure out if the slap heard around the world was real or a prank. That’s why we’re putting together 90-minute playlists each month chock-full of songs with enough of a beat to keep you moving. Whether you’re running outside or just hitting the treadmill, good music can often make the difference between a rave run and a blown goal.
